The Ocean Wise Seafood program has compiled an updated list of recommended seafood choices based on their four criteria of sustainability:
- That the population of the fish species is abundant and resilient to the effects of fishing
- That the species is well-managed and that a plan based on current research is in place to support the population
- That harvesting is carried out in such a way that bycatch is limited
- That the harvesting method limits damage to marine habitats and other species
By selecting seafood that is farmed and fished responsibly, chefs and restaurateurs are participating in a practice that ensures that good seafood stays on the menu.
